Welcome Lauren Lutkus. Lauren will be teaching the new Art KnowsNo Boundaries for Young Adults. She grew up outside of Pittsburgh,PA and currently lives in Kent, OH with her Boxer dog, Louie. She is attending Kent State University for her master's degree in art education. Lauren mainly works with 3D materials to create art, mostly plaster and ceramics, and gets inspiration from her interactions with nature and current social issues. She also enjoys cooking, reading, and anything outdoors. She plans on making roots here in Ohio.

Art Knows No Boundaries...Can Do, Like You!

The Peninsula Art Academy focuses on peoples' abilities and similarities rather than differences. Artists of all skill levels are welcomed to enjoy PAA and all it has to offer. In 1987, President Ronald Reagan declared March to be Developmental Disability Awareness Month, urging "all Americans to join me in according to our fellow citizens with such disabilities both encouragement and the opportunities they need to lead productive lives and to achieve their full potential." The theme this year is Can Do, Like You!

We are so fortunate that the Cuyahoga Falls Center and the Akron Center for the Developmentally Disabled have agreed to send artists to PAA for art lessons. We embrace these wonderfully talented, enthusiastic participants. During March, adult artists with disabilities come on...Thursdays March 5, and March 12 from 10-12 and 1-3. On March 19, the class will meet from 10-12 only. Lessons are held in the newly painted "Big Classroom." (However, on Thursday March 5, the class will meet in the PAA gallery.) Beth Hannah does a wonderful job, teaching artists with a variety of interests and skill levels in a class titled...Art Knows No Boundaries.

During Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, Peninsula Art Academy encourages everyone to get to know someone with a disability and discover just what he or she Can Do, Like You! You are invited to take an art lesson with adults with disabilities. The class, Art Knows No Boundaries, is always open to all skill levels. However we are particularly encouraging participants with diverse areas of expertise to enjoy a one day session during the month of March. In order to participate, call PAA and reserve your place. The cost for each session including materials will be $17.
