Have you ever watched someone sit and sketch in a coffee shop or watch those movies where people are painting outside?  Don't believe you can do so?  Well, here at PAA we believe there is a budding artist inside everyone.  many of our artists started off sketching, drawing, and or painting before they delved their heart and souls into other media.

Many artists find their heart and soul is with painting and drawing. Whatever the case maybe we have many offerings for you to explore, learn and tryout different techniques.  So, whatever your skill level, take a leap with us and start feeding that budding artist inside of you.

Check the latest class schedule for details of times and fees. Contact the Art Academy for your reservation, and contact the instructor for details on the class materials and pre-requisites.

Abstractions with Carol Adams

An experience in understanding what abstraction is and how to make it happen in a variety of materials. 6 classes – take one, or several, or all. We will be covering:

  1. Working in a sketchbook developing designs and sketches to create from. Seeing the world anew. For example have you ever passed a cornfield and seen it as a huge rug?
  2. Looking at abstract artists understanding what they are doing and working as in one of their ways of working.
  3. Making an abstract painting.
  4. Working from lists and cross referencing ideas from them.
  5. Finding abstractions from nature photography.
  6. Making an abstract in 3 dimensions.

I highly recommend the first (sketchbook) class as a starting point to think about the rest.

There will be a small materials fee according to class focus.

Bring a friend! Minimum of 4 students needed for class to proceed. Feel free to bring a bottle of wine!

Pre-registration is required. Contact Carol at 330-657-2681 or
